Women’s hockey skates tied 1-1 with Princeton


PROVIDENCE, RI – The Providence College women’s hockey team won a 1-1 draw against the Princeton University Tigers in the non-conference series final on Saturday, December 4 at Schneider Arena.

REMARKS

Both teams skated for the first 20 minutes without scoring. Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ont.) Recorded 10 saves as the Tigers outscored the Friars, 10-6.

Princeton scored the first with a goal in the second period at 10:25 am by Mia Coene, sister of Providence Maddy Coene (Clayton, New York). The Tigers led 1-0 in the second intermission.

The Friars brought Kingsley back to just under the three-minute mark for the extra man. Caroline peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) Found the equalizer for the Friars in the final 51 seconds of play, aided by Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) to send the teams into overtime, 1-1.

Sara hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) was awarded a minor for tripping at 3:03 into extra time. The Friars skated to death for the remainder of overtime, but Kingsley managed to keep the Tigers off the board, making four saves.

Kingsley recorded 30 saves for a .968 save percentage on the evening.
