Taito develops new Puzzle Bobble game for consoles

Taito announced in a video that a new Bobble Puzzle (also known as Bust a move) is under development, and most importantly, it is currently designed for consoles. The announcement comes from an official news video from Taito which also gives us a first look at the new game.

While the tile matching puzzle game series Bobble Puzzle Has been around since its original 1994 arcade game, the main character Bub, also known as the cute Bubble Dragon “Bubblun”, is celebrating his 35th birthday this year. Bub first appeared in the 1986 arcade game Bubble Bobble. Taito decided it was time to announce a new Bobble Puzzle game for consoles to commemorate the occasion.

The above is a preview of a sample image from the new game. Director Tsuyoshi Tozaki was unable to share any further details in the video, but did mention that it will feature the simple gameplay for which the series is known, so that anyone can pick it up and play easily. The developers are also taking notes of Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, which allowed players to have fun with friends and family.

We didn’t get any information other than the screenshot above, but it looks like Taito wants to focus on the multiplayer gameplay. Taito has not confirmed any specific platform, but it’s almost obvious that it will happen on Nintendo Switch based on comments on Bubble Bobble 4 Friends.
