Screen Australia’s funding program for Australian game developers is now open
Small and medium-sized Australian game developers can now apply to access federal screen funding under Screen Australia’s Games: Expansion Pack. This is the latest round of government funding for game developers to help them grow their businesses. You may recall the other recent government game funding announcement that will provide 30% Digital Game Tax Offsets (DGTO) to Australian game developers to help them grow. and grow their businesses. The DGTO kicks off on July 1, 2022, but applications are now open for Screen Australia: Expansion Pack funding.
Combined, the two funding initiatives should provide a useful financial boost to Australian game developers, which should make it a bit easier to create innovative and interesting games in the years to come.
The Screen Australia Games: Expansion Pack is aimed at smaller developers with a game development budget under AU$500,000. Funding is capped at AU$150,000, and to be eligible, applicants will need to meet a number of proof-of-concept criteria for their games, as well as a number of evaluation criteria set out on the website. from Screen Australia, where they also find the application portal to submit their applications.
Applications for the 2021-22 funding cycle close Thursday, April 28, 2022. To help answer any questions Australia’s leading gaming body, the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association (IGEA) and Screen Australia, are hosting a virtual education session on Wednesday, March 16 at 4 p.m. AEDT.
