Rhythm FPS Gun Jam releases new gameplay trailer

When you think of first-person shooters, the idea of mixing it with rhythm-based gameplay might not come naturally. However, for publisher Raw Fury and developers Jaw Drop Games, that very idea is the foundation that saw them work on Gun Jam, which debuted at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase, and showed some really interesting game.

First teased as a tweet in 2020, the music-focused first-person shooter has since grown into something much bigger. Players can expect to dive into a substantial campaign mode or have fun in Gun Jam’s arcade mode.

At the heart of it all is the music and the need to stay in time with the various notes that arise right in the center. As you rip through your enemies while firing with the beat, a multiplier builds, allowing for even higher scores for each level you find yourself in.

Different notes also seem to require the use of various weapons to hit them, so there’s a lot of mental gymnastics to do even if you’re looking to clear the stage. It’s not yet clear how the various notes work, or if there’s any aim assist given things can get quite busy on-screen, but the core idea is still one to watch.

Gun Jam is due out on PC sometime in 2022, and we can also expect a multi-genre soundtrack to get our heads and guns moving.

Here is the official Gun Jam description:
