If you are looking for a school holiday activity that is as fun for adults as it is for children, then Route 9 Distillery has the perfect solution for you.
While you wet your whistle with Square 1 gin, Adelaide Hills whiskey or rum, kids can decorate and eat their own COOKIES, courtesy of Small bites.
Wee Bites owner Cisca Teodoro says Route 9 Distillery decided to collaborate after sampling the wonderful make-your-own cookies at boutique Coonawarra Winery, Hollick Estate.
“I’m based in Mount Gambier and have been making these fabulous cookies for several years now. I supply local businesses, including Hollick, the winery,” says Cisca.
“They [Hollick] I got to know my business and thought it was a great idea! They included my cookies as part of their kids meal deal for a while. I have kids myself and love it as they can get very restless when on the go.
“I was supplying Hollick for a while, but that’s when Rob from Route 9 Distillery found me and thought it was a great idea. They approached me and that’s where it all started.
The cookies contain gluten and dairy, but other than that they are very hypoallergenic. Kids can choose from a wide range of designs including unicorns, rainbows, cupcakes, monsters, cars, robots and rockets.
Small batch cookies are made to order and are free of preservatives and artificial flavors.
Rob from Route 9 Distillery said that even adults like to paint a cookie or two!
“Loved the cookies – kept my kids busy while we had dinner at Coonawarra and the bonus was that it was dessert too!” said Rob.
“We will also have children’s packs for sale on Route 9 which contain juice, popcorn, raisins, milky way, cheese and crackers.”
If painting isn’t the kids’ cup of tea, Route 9 Distillery also has a bunch of arcade games on site.
“There are 60 different arcade games to choose from. Think games like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, 1942, Donkey Kong and Centipede to name a few. You select the game you want to play , then let’s go!” he said.
“It’s a waste of time for any child and for adults too. It’s free for any visitor to the distillery.
