Dying Light 2 release postponed to February 2022

While I was working on an article about Dying Light 2 not being a game you should be sleeping on this year, Techland came out and announced that the highly anticipated sequel has been delayed. Originally slated for December, Dying Light 2 has been pushed back to February 4, 2022.

Although the game is technically “complete,” it appears to be not quite at the level Techland wants. Calling it their “biggest” and “most ambitious” project of all time, they just need more time to polish and optimize it so that it truly lives up to their level. It’s hard to object to that kind of transparency and I hope they solve all the problems because I’m really looking forward to this game.

While we will have to wait until next year to walk through The City, we won’t have to wait too long to hear some impressions. Techland has promised that a more in-depth review of Dying Light 2 will be available soon, as press and content creators familiarize themselves with the PC and console versions of the game at select preview events around the world.

Additionally, new episodes of Dying 2 Know More are released regularly with the latest information on the game’s weapons. In the final episode, producer Szymon Strauss discusses the philosophy behind Dying Light 2’s weapon design.

In the first Dying Light, you could find weapon blades and simple tools, like keys, in the environment. But now, 20 years later, they are exhausted. While you can always find high level weapons, they are still very expensive or very difficult to find. So, the main objective of Dying Light 2 will be to build your weapons from debris and other materials that you find.

We now have confirmation that weapon durability will return in Dying Light 2 and it looks like it will be quite common. Something like a traditional ax may be more durable, but a weapon you’ve crafted on the fly is likely to break after a few battles.

Watch the full video below to learn more about the weapon design, durability, and other survival tools you’ll find around Villedor, the last human town.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human will now launch on February 4, 2022
