Can you play Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds on PC, PS5, PS4 or Xbox Series consoles?

Netmarble’s mobile reinterpretation of Level-5’s beloved Ni No Kuni franchise is the latest sensation on Android and iOS, but is Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds available on other platforms? Well, yes, but only on PC at the moment. In fact, “Cross Worlds” refers to the cross-play functions between mobile and PC platforms, as much as the union between the real world and the Ni No Kuni world in the game.

Is Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds available on consoles?

As of this writing, the answer is unfortunately no. Netmarble hasn’t said anything about releasing the game on the latest PlayStation and Xbox consoles. However, if Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds is successful enough as a free-to-play mobile game, we could eventually see the game being brought to PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles.

That said, the major controversy surrounding the use of blockchain in gaming could prevent its porting. The mobile market is more comfortable with gacha games and blockchain mechanics than the console market, but not by much. The ability to convert Asterite in-game to other cryptocurrencies like MobiePay, Ethereum, and BitCoin has severely tilted PvP to the point that even some whales who join this payment system to win resent the imbalance. So if Netmarble ever chooses to port the game, it will have to consider removing or completely revamping sections of the PvP blockchain for console audiences to accept the game.

Since Netmarble is primarily a South Korean mobile game developer, it would be surprising if it decides to enter the console market. It has some experience publishing Koei Tecmo’s Uncharted Waters Online for non-Asian markets in the past, a game that was on PS3 and PS4 in Japan, although the developer ended its service in November 2013 and transferred publishing tasks to OGPlanet. Since then, Netmarble’s catalog has been primarily for mobiles and PCs, and it has managed to stay in its lane so far. If we see Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds on consoles, it’s more likely to come from another publisher with the license and more experience in the space.
